Yesterday I brought the camera in to work. I took photos both on the commute in and on the way from Farringdon to Holborn in the afternoon. This was the first photo I took. It's from the corner of Greville Street and Farringdon Road. Unusually for me both this and many other photos contain people.

Shady woodland walk under cedars The final page of last year's holiday in Provence is now published. It's a walk on a sentier botanique in the forested hills and mountain meadows of Petit Luberon. It was a splendid day and I think it shows in the photos. As usual, please let me know your favourites and any mistakes you spot.

The view from St. Benezet's bridge back toward Avignon A new page from last year's holiday in Provence shows photos from Avignon, city of the popes and of that ear worm about dancing on the bridge.

My inbox is empty. I just have to gloat a little about that. :-) I followed the advice in the 43 Folders series Inbox Zero. Particularly the Articles of Faith entry was good. So now my inbox has been at zero since yesterday evening. It's amazing. Almost a little scary, in a good way.

I've also put up some photos on Flickr. They're from my walk near Chenies on 28 January.

Fluffy has spent the afternoon here with me. It's really hard to tell if she wants a cuddle or if she's begging for food. I gave her some tuna but she wasn't all that hungry and only ate half.

Anyway, it's bedtime for me. Work tomorrow, including a chat with my manager about goals for next year. I've got a contractor to supervise too.

Wow, I haven't done one of these in a long time. I even had to think to remember what I call them.

Today's bonus photo is of the blue primulas that have been growing in the Blue border for a few years now. They're really this blue. I didn't bump up the saturation.

I've been out in the garden, playing with the new close-up lenses. This is the first image I was happy with. The trick is in the focusing. The easiest way of doing that is to set the camera on "macro" and go very close. 10cm or so is usually fine. With 10x magnification, that usually fills the frame.

I left all the imperfections on the flower so that the true sharpness can be seen. Normally I'd photoshop out any smuts.

Maitre Nougatier shop front in Sault I've published another page from last year's holiday in Provence. On the day described here I walked along the top of the the river Nesque gorge and went shopping in Sault. Please let me know your favourite photos.

Also if you spot any mistakes, comment here so I can fix them.

I just saved the last thumbnail of the last photo from my last day in France. Phew! I'm transferring them to the server now. No panoramas, though. I just didn't have time. Below is the very last photo. It shows Pont Julien, a Roman bridge. Contrary to what the web page says, it is only used as a pedestrian bridge these days. The brand spanking new car bridge is visible in the background.

Except for the push to finally finish the photos, I've done lots of domestic stuff today. The weather has been wet and windy, so it was perfect for it. My bedroom is now sparkling. Well, except for the muddy paw prints Fluffy has already planted on the window sill, of course.

The things I'm going to need for next week are all done. By my backpack in the hallway the freshly laundered blanket and a new book (Cordelia's Honor) lie waiting for tomorrow morning. There's food in the fridge waiting for me to take into work too.

I just put Fluffy outside so I dont' have to worry about forgetting that before I go to bed. She was not pleased. As the sucker I am, I feel terribly guilty. Hopefully she'll have forgiven me by tomorrow. After all she got tuna.

[livejournal.com profile] finn_lily takes gorgeous winter photos in Tampere in Finland. I particularly like the lake scenes from the arboretum taken yesterday and the wooden architectural detail from last year.

[livejournal.com profile] puneets and I went out walking in Oxfordshire today. We took a shortened version of this walk. There wasn't a whole lot of snow but the weather was brilliantly sunny so we bagged lots of very nice winter shots. This is one of the first photos I took. It's from Stonor Deerpark, looking westwards.

I'm tempted to buy a Wacom Graphire Bluetooth graphic tablet. They're €214 with p&p to the UK from the Wacom store. That's £145. I doubt very much that it would reach me before the weekend even if it's UPS but getting it in the "between days" wouldn't hurt either. Hm. They got a very good review in a Photoshop magazine I read last weekend.

Any reason why I shouldn't buy one?

I don't think anybody is surprised by my choice of motif for the first photo from my new camera.

I just discovered that my new camera fits in the camera bag I used for the old one. Fantabulous! A new bag costs £50, so that's an expenditure I'd rather not have to make. Unfortunately the UV filter doesn't fit. The old one has a diameter of 58mm. The new one is 67mm. Jessops have one from Hoya for £27.

I just called Best Cameras and asked when I could expect the Sony R1 that I ordered nearly three weeks ago. They said they'd get a new shipment tomorrow and I should expect the camera at the beginning of next week. Now let's hope that they deliver when I'm home, otherwise I won't get my mittens on it until the Saturday after that.

Today's Botany Photo of the Day in the [livejournal.com profile] bpod feed included a link to the site of a Norwegian nature photographer's organisation, BioFoto.

The site has a four-page gallery including mostly wildlife but also landscape photography. The landscape I liked the most was taken by Einar Ytrelid. I think many others could appreciate the serenity in that lake at dusk.

Among the bird photos, my favourite was a mute swan shot by Ketil Knudsen. As expected in Scandinavian photography there are not nearly as many mammals as birds. Among the few mammals there is a fox and a red squirrel portrait I liked.

There weren't many flowers but these harebells, Campanula rotundifolia are a beautiful blue.

I just called Best Cameras and they told me that they are getting the first stock in this week but they've all been spoken for. The next delivery is in early December. :-(

I've got some exercise DVDs from eBay. Rosemarie Conley and Yogalates. Both of these are in my wishlist on Amazon and the eBay price ended up cheaper. Depending on how the wind blows, I may also end up with the Firefly DVDs.

Ah, yes, the camera. I got it from BestCameras.com. Don't know when it will arrive. They may not have begun to dispatch them yet.

Update: Got the Firefly DVDs. Looking forward to watching them.
