Potterdämmerung: Oh no
Jul. 21st, 2007 05:27 pm( spoilers )
I've come home from Tesco. It wasn't the zoo it usually is on Saturdays. I guess I'm not the only who's at home, reading.

Potterdämmerung: Taking a Break
Jul. 21st, 2007 04:29 pmI'm am a little over halfway through the book. ( spoilers )
Now I'm off to Tesco to buy some ice cream and perhaps some chocolate too. I'm going to need it if I'm going to be able to finish the book tonight.

Potterdämmerung: Starting to Read
Jul. 21st, 2007 09:53 amI've read all about HP6 on The Muggles Guide to Harry Potter so hopefully I have all the background I need to fully appreciate the last book.
My teeth are brushed and the washing machine has been started. Must not neglect preparing for the work week ahead.
I'm tired because I sat up and read most of HP5 yesterday evening. If it turns out that I'm too tired to properly enjoy the book, I guess I'll have to make some tea. The advantage of not doing caffeine on a regular basis is that it works very well when I do drink it.
Opening the Amazon box, I am immediately struck by how the design of the book is the same as on the previous two adult-edition UK hard cover books. However the new book is definitely shorter than HP5. It has 606 pages. The first sentence in the book proper is ( spoiler )

Potterdämmerung: Got It
Jul. 21st, 2007 07:56 amI was just taking my weekly gardening photo when the postie came. This year he had my book. Last time it came later with the driver. Mine was one of three books delivered to my house.
As said before, there will be spoilers here but they will be behind cuts. Don't complain to me if you don't have the self-discipline not to click.

Potterdämmerung: The Day Before
Jul. 20th, 2007 10:39 amI just checked my Amazon account. My order for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (adult edition, hardback) is listed as having been dispatched on 14 July and delivery by Royal Mail will occur tomorrow. Ah, the thrill!
The spoiler policy for this LJ will be that I may post spoilers but they will definitely be under LJ cuts. So if you trust yourself not to click on the cuts, you can read here.
As for making sure I don't get spoiled, I just changed the comment settings for this journal to "friends only".
I was hoping I'd have re-read all the books in the series before HP7 but I'm only on HP5. Not even sure if I'll be able to finish that before I get HP7. Oh well.

Little, stripey tails: The cuteness, it burns
"Need to go to France? No, Switzerland? No France? No, Germany. No, I can't make up my mind." Basel Airport to the rescue.
Viking treasure discovered in North Yorkshire: Contains coins from Afghanistan, Ireland, Russia, Scandinavia (duh!) and continental Europe.
"In the future, we could all be backseat drivers": Presenting driver-less vehicles from UC Berkeley and Stanford. (Ignore the problematic Bay Area geographic references.)
The Potterdämmerung is nigh, have you made plans?
A Dirty Job but somebody's gotta do it: The blog of a holiday park in Hastings
Do you really need another reason for buckling up? Snopes gives the thumbs-up to a video of a driver being thrown out of his SUV and run over by oncoming traffic

I loved this Sony ad filmed in San Francisco (QuickTime movie). Watch out for the kamikaze frog. (Via

The Agony! The Waiting! The Longing!
Jul. 16th, 2005 07:29 amThe postie was just here but he didn't ring my door! Of course I ran after him, I wasn't about to let him go without giving me my book. But he said he didn't have it. *le sigh* It would be delivered separately by van. But he said the book was definitely on the van, because he remembered giving it to the driver. He himself had about 20 copies and the driver had more because he covers a larger area.
Now I have to wait longer! The postie didn't even know when the van would get here. In my experience it can be as late as 1pm. *le sigh*
